Puopolo Park and Langone Park - North End, Boston

After a warm plate of spaghetti and meatballs in the North End, take a walk with your box of pastries down to the harbor to Puopolo Park and Langone Park for a real treat. Frederick Law Olmsted, Mr. Greenway, put his footprint on this stretch of Boston Harbor where now a zillion Harborwalkers and residents stay to play.

The whole area is multi-purposed with bocce ball courts, basketball, softball, baseball, public bathrooms and a pool open to the public during the summer. Let me add that there is no shade over kitty swings. There is some shade along the fence under big trees. Other than that, the park fulfilled our purpose as playground hoppers. We were invigorated.

  1. The baseball diamond in Langone Park is on the same spot where the Molasses Flood disaster of 1919 started. There is a memorial to the disaster adjacent to Langone Park.
